With this gift card featuring Dutch brands, you can endlessly shop for products that are either recycled, circular, fairtrade, and/or made by people with barriers to the labor market. The products are contemporary and offer something for everyone.
With our sustainable gift card, we aim to give a platform to social Dutch entrepreneurs and introduce them to the Netherlands—so you can discover the wonderful and beautiful products that are not only good for you but also for others.
We have curated a selection of high-quality products made from (sustainable) materials that can be reused or are circular. We don’t want to add more waste to the growing pile of trash.
Life is a big party, but you have to hang the decorations yourself
For a long time, I worked at a large restaurant chain, and I really enjoyed it. Every day, we focused on fresh, local, healthy, natural, and above all, delicious food—something that still brings me joy today.
After that, I ended up in the Christmas and corporate gifts industry and was shocked by the amount of waste it generated. So much plastic, so many products that served no real purpose and were basically destined for the trash. I really missed working on something “good” that I could be proud of. On top of that, I had always dreamed of starting my own business someday…
In 2018, my best friend passed away in a tragic accident. We had shared everything throughout our lives. After her death, I felt a strong need to give more meaning to my life. But the big question was: how? A few months later, I received a message from Jolanda asking if I wanted to start a business with her. After a dinner and a cup of coffee, we had a plan—and that was the beginning of Gifts with Impact.
We decided not to create any more waste but instead to collaborate with small- and medium-sized Dutch social entrepreneurs, offering only products made from recycled, natural, or organic materials. And we wanted even more! We envisioned our own gift card that could give a platform to many Dutch, fair, and sustainable brands, introducing as many people as possible to them. That became Gift for Good – the sustainable, homegrown gift card.

The best part of thejourney/span>, is the journey itself
After 20 years, I decided to close the chapter on my business in corporate gifts and Christmas packages. I wanted to do something completely different. I had grown tired of the industry with all its plastic waste. For a year, I tried all sorts of things and went on endless walks with my dog to figure out what I truly wanted to do. I acted as a mentor for Start Up Bootcamp, considered running a small dairy business, sourcing products, setting up an app for camping spots, developing a new water bottle, and even helped small businesses start up in my local area.
But the pull of my expertise was too strong to ignore. With my knowledge, skills, and network, I was approached multiple times and eventually decided to return to the industry—but with a completely new approach. I felt grateful and wanted to give back to society. I founded several sustainable companies, which I later sold as they grew too big and required a different approach, such as GreenGiftBox and EcoGiving. I also became a member of Social Enterprise.nl, which allowed me to connect with even more social entrepreneurs and hear their stories.
I completed the Social Entrepreneurship program at Nyenrode and was struck by the effort these entrepreneurs put into securing subsidies and funding. They struggled to sell their products to businesses. I wanted to bridge the gap between these two worlds by helping them sell their products and share their stories. That’s when Martine came into the picture, sharing the same mission and drive. After founding Gifts with Impact together, we leveraged our expertise to launch the Gift for Good card.
My mission is to help make the industry more sustainable, as there are still far too many plastic products being offered.
